What happens when a product goes "Out of Stock"?

Understanding how ReelTok behaves when a linked product runs out of inventory.

Does the video hide automatically?

No. If a product featured in your video goes out of stock in Shopify, the video will remain visible on your website.

We intentionally keep the video live because it keeps your site engagement high, even if the specific item is temporarily unavailable.

The Customer Experience (What they see)

When a customer watches the video and clicks on the product card:

  1. The Popup Opens: The Product Detail window will still open normally, showing the product image and price.

  2. The Button is Disabled: Instead of an "Add to Cart" button, the customer will see a black button labeled "Not available".

  3. Status Text: The text "Out of stock" will appear below the Quantity selector.

The customer cannot add the item to their cart, but they can still view the product details.

Best Practice

If you have a product that will be out of stock for a long time, we recommend:

  1. Opening the Journey in your dashboard.

  2. Deleting or Hiding the specific scene that features the sold-out item.

  3. Republishing the Journey to remove it from your store.
